How to play DUOLOCK

Basic DUOLOCK

DUOLOCK generates two sets of random numbers and you must guess the two numbers in 6 goes or fewer.

Each guess must contain 4 numbers. The numbers will change colour once you have entered a 4 number combination.

For example:

The number 1 is in the correct place in the first number combination and the number 2 is in the correct place in the second number combination.

The number 2 is in both combinations but in the wrong place.

DUOLOCK

The mini blocks colours tell you how close you are to solving the DUOLOCK.

About DUOLOCK

Thank you for playing our DUOLOCK puzzle.

I’m Elizabeth, a mother of three, life-long puzzle lover and the inventor of DUOLOCK. I have been playing pen-and-paper puzzles ever since I was a small child and I still have a puzzle book on my bedside table to play to this day.

As well as pen-and-paper puzzles, I also like playing and creating online interactive puzzles. DUOLOCK is the third game I have invented. DUOLOCK is based on the first two puzzles I invented, the daily number game PADLOCK and the daily word game ALPHALOCK and takes some inspiration from the game Quordle as well.

The name DUOLOCK is obviously derived from PADLOCK’s name and the PADLOCK name was inspired by my gym lock - a bright pink padlock that needs a four digit code to open it.

You may have noticed that I describe myself above as the inventor of DUOLOCK, but the real hard work in making this game was done by my husband Mark. Mark has always loved working with computers, but had never really played any puzzles. So when Mark asked me what I wanted for Christmas one year and I said I’d like him to make the PADLOCK puzzle for me he had to start from scratch, learning not only about puzzles, but also about how to write the code to make them as well. After creating and playing PADLOCK Mark was hooked on puzzle development, so when I asked him if he could adapt the advanced PADLOCK format to use words instead of numbers he got to the task immediately and over one weekend in April 2024 he created the PADLOCK game site and then, on a game development roll, a fortnight later he created DUOLOCK. We now love playing all of these games with our children and we hope you enjoy playing our daily puzzles with your friends and family as well.

Settings

Light Mode A light theme with a white background and colours such as green, yellow and grey.

Dark Mode A dark theme with an almost black background and colours such as green, yellow and grey.

High Contrast Mode A light theme with higher contrast ratios.

Character Highlighting:

Highlight characters from your guesses that you think are in the puzzle by changing their colour with a click.

DUOLOCK — FAQ

What is DUOLOCK?

DUOLOCK is a daily logic puzzle offering number and word challenges that reward deduction over guessing. Each puzzle is generated daily so players worldwide solve the same puzzle.

How do I play?

Enter guesses using the on-screen keyboard (or your keyboard). After each guess you will receive feedback indicating which letters/numbers are correct and which are present in the puzzle but in a different position. Use that feedback to refine subsequent guesses.
